Contacts and events

Skype's main view gives a quick overview of your contacts and if they're offline or not. It also tells you if you have any missed calls, voicemails or messages, and how much Skype Credit you have left.

Calling with Skype

Calling someone on Skype is simple, find them on your Contacts and click the big, green calling button. You can also do free video calls.

During the call

Calls to other people on Skype are crystal-clear some people say it feels like the person is right next to you. Once you're done with the call click the red button to hang up.

Conference call

Skype is perfect for doing quick conference calls. Up to ten people can join a conference call and you can even dial in people on their mobiles or home phones.

Calling phones

With SkypeOut you can call other people even if they don't have a computer. It's a nice way to call any phone anywhere in the world, and it's all pretty cheap.

Send large files

Need to send an important document to your colleague? Downloaded a cool picture from the web that you want your friends to see? Just send it over with Skype file transfer. Its secure and encrypted like the rest of Skype, and handles files of any size.

Chat

You can type in addition to talking and you can invite up to 99 other friends to join in and make it a big friendly group chat. Chat is great for organizing events, discussing projects and more.

Video call

Smile, wave and say "Hi" over a free video call. And video is not limited to a small window within your Skype, you can blow it up to full-screen. Cool, no?

History

History tab keeps track of all your history - your past calls, chats, missed events, files you've sent and more. From here it's really easy to find that important chat, check call durations etc.
